Guidelines to make your own iPod Ad Silhouette with iPop My Photo. Image guidelines and your iPod photo questions answered.
IMAGE GUIDELINES
These guidelines are pretty strict as they will ensure that you are happy with the resulting iPod photo image that our designers create. Please note that iPop My Photo does not do the printing. Our service is for the custom digital artwork. For printing we recommend Zazzle.
Image dimensions to be no smaller than 640x480
the best samples on our sample page have image dimensions of AT LEAST this amount, any smaller and you just might not be happy with the image that we return to you. We maintain the same size and DPI as your original image - a small original will result in a small iPopified image. So please use a large file at the outset, and your image will be a good size for enlargements, posters, etc. If you submit an image smaller than the guidelines here, you may not be happy with the results.
How to find out the image dimensions
For a PC user, when you find the image you want to use in a documents folder, place your cursor over the image and a small popup will appear and tell you the image dimensions. For Mac users, come on, you know this stuff already, you creative genius, you.
FOR POSTERS / LARGE PRINTS
iPop My Photo does not do the printing, but here are some general guidelines to be aware of when printing posters. Pictures that fall below the resolution guidelines may look okay when viewed online, but will appear blurry and pixellated - that is, the image will appear in blocks, with jagged rather than straight edges - when enlarged and printed.
300 DPI is the recommended resolution for printing. However, because most digital cameras only let you control the overall size in pixels, use these guidelines for your image settings to ensure it will be large enough to print:
- A 6.5 X 5 inch image at 72 DPI must be at least 480 X 360 pixels
- A 6.5 X 5 inch image at 300 DPI must be at least 2048 X 1536
- A 14 X 10 inches at 72 DPI must be at least 1024 X 768 pixels
- A 14 X 10 inch image at 300 DPI must be at least 4200 X 3000 pixels
What file format should my photo be in?
Your photo should be in .JPG format.
What types of photos work best for iPod ads?
Action photos look the best. Any type of arm, leg or head motion allows for a more exciting iPopified photo. For best results, the background sould be as plain as possible. Please try to limit the number of people in your photo - they tend to look best with 1 or 2 people, we will accommodate more than 2 but it may take longer to deliver. The best images show action, headshots are cool too, but don't make the best iPopifications. h
How long do the custom iPod pictures take to get back to me?
We will return the iPopified .JPG file to you via email within 1 week. We're sorry, but at this point, we are not able to offer any expedited delivery.
What can I do with the picture once I get it?
It's your photo, so you can do whatever you want with it. We will provide you with links to our partners who can create high quality prints, greeting cards and t-shirts for you. We have had customers use their custom iPod style pictures for party themes, class election posters, and PodCast logos.
Are you at all affiliated with Apple and the iPod?
We love Apple, and we love iPods but beyond that, there are no ties between iPop My Photo and Apple.
Can I put any text I want on my iPod photo?
Yes, we will create the photo with whatever you want the caption to be. For legibility, we have a limit on character length set to 40.
Why would I pay you $19.95 when I can do this myself?
Go for it. We have artists on staff doing this by hand. The results are astounding. If you want to do this yourself - by all means, do it, we are not stopping you. But ask yourself, if you are going to iPopify a special photo, don't you want it to come out awesome? If we do it, it will - check out our samples and our customer feedback.
If you think you have what it takes, why not join us and make money doing something you love? Send a before and after sample of your work to ipopmyphoto@gmail.com. We're serious about quality. Our custom iPod pictures look amazing and we want to keep the positive feedback rolling in, so if you think you've got the skills, give it a shot.
